Back up - Address Book
These instructions will show you how to back up your Address Book.
It may be easier to follow if you print this page before starting.
- Outlook Express stores the address book as a single .WAB (Windows Address Book) file, no matter how many different users are set up to use the email program
- Each users information is stored in the .WAB file in separate folders
- If there is more than one identity, the .WAB file can be exported folder by folder
- From the File menu, select Export, then Address Book
- In the dialog box that appears, click Text File (Comma Separated Values) highlight it, and then click the Export button
- When the CSV Export dialog box appears, click Browse
- Click inside the Look In box to locate a folder to store the WAB file in (within My Documents)
- In the File Name box, type a name for your backup
- Click Save, then Next
- Select the fields you want to export (name, address etc, this will depend on the details you have entered for each contact - but check the default settings - you will need at least the name and e-mail address fields to be ticked for the backup file to be useful!)
- Click Close
